Energy Security and the “Harsh Winter” in Extremist Discourse about the Russian Invasion of Ukraine

Together with partner organizations, the Centre for Contemporary Politics/European Western Balkans researched the presence and the meaning of the narratives on energy security in Europe following the start of the war in Ukraine. The results of the research show that the narrative on Russia successfully leveraging its energy exports against European countries which have sanctioned it is quite popular in Serbia. This was an ad-hoc report and a part of a wider project UKRAINE MONITOR. The project aims to check out how Ukraine-related disinformation is reflected and used within the far-right, ultra-nationalist and extremist communities to advance goals consistent with Russian interests.
